Notes: This skeletal grossular crystal was exposed by soaking the specimen in vinegar (a weak acid) for several days to dissolve the enclosing calcite. The interior of the skeletal crystal has small diopside crystals embedded in white calcite. An interesting paragenesis development.

Notes: Bob Janules reported that the source of this specimen was an isolated glacial boulder. It was totally broken up by mineral collectors. It is possible that other similar boulders might be revealed in the area by residential and commercial development in the decades since this specimen was collected.
